Description Denis Koryavov 2012-04-29 14:52:50 MSK
Description of problem:

I suggest to hide CUPS icon in menu, because we have system-config-printer in menu. Thus, one more printer configuration utility is not necessary. It will merely confuse users.

I suggest we need add to SW some config, that may hide/unhide some .desktop files, instead crack upstream package and have more hate and pain from maintainers.

All things, presents in tarball, will be present in package, in other way with every new version and forgets fix .desktop (patch not usefull for this) application will appear in menu.
Comment 2 Denis Koryavov 2012-04-29 16:52:09 MSK
No, it is wrong way. First of all, no one can tell about all application shortcuts that should be hidden, second, it will slow down SW. And it do not solve this problem for other menus (Kickoff, e.t.c).
Comment 3 Denis Koryavov 2012-04-29 16:58:27 MSK
And it is no problem to fix .desktop file. Just add to the spec:

echo 'Hidden=true' > [/path/to/the/desktop_file]

and you never will have problems with new versions of a package.
