ROSA Linux Bugzilla – Bug 7144
Mark binary blobs in packages as blobs
Last modified: 2016-06-21 16:55:16 MSD
I suggest to somehow mark blobs in packages as blobs. For example, Telegram is an open source product, but it requires a patched Qt, so a ready binary blob from Telegram is packaged in Rosa. Users are told that Linux repositories can be considered secure because all open source packages are compiled from sources, but such situatiion may confuse someone and/or his/her/their security.
So, we may add -blob postfix to such packges or add a warning into the descriptions.
Binary printer drivers, Viber, Skype, Draftsight etc. should also be marked as binary blobs.
