ROSA Linux Bugzilla – Bug 675
Deploy page-protection measures
Last modified: 2013-07-08 14:25:45 MSD
We should protect important pages to make them spammer-proof.
Protecting pages makes them editable by bureaucrats only.
A list of pages to protect:
- Main page
- Pages with release notes and other release information such as download links
- Pages with policies of all kinds
Also, I think that wiki admins should be subscribed to the main page edits in order to track all disruptions timely.
ABF related pages should be protected, and may be some special pages like templates, too.
Actually, I read wiki RSS feeds on a daily basis (excluding some weekends, may be), it includes all user registration and page creation&edition actions.
Please do something! Yeterday the Main page was vandalised. I'm going to protect the most important pages manually, otherwise.
Main page, at the very least, has to be protected as soon as possible. See:
Actually, next week wiki.rosalab.ru will be upgraded,
and we will deploy best Spam-protection Captha Asirra (Turing test based on recognition cats and dogs).
I will test this extension on several public wikis, and it works great (for example standard capthas, such as ReCaptha on these wikis was easyly broken).
You can see how it works on http://discopal.ispras.ru
With cats and dogs, of course, great! :) Yes. Waiting at us is.
Now «cat & dogs» welcomes all new users and bots.
I definitely hope that this is the solution.
