Description Giovanni Mariani 2015-12-08 22:40:20 MSK
Description of problem:
Trying to build linuxsampler 2.0.0 package for Contrib.

Using in the spec file a BReq in the form of "pkgconfig(sqlite3)" makes the build fail with a failed build dependencies error:
"pkgconfig(sqlite3) is needed by linuxsampler-2.0.0-1.src".

Changing the BReq to "sqlite3-devel" makes the build starting, but it does not find the installed sqlite3 library:
checking for SQLITE3... no
*** Required sqlite version not found!
*** You need to have sqlite version 3.3 or higher
*** for instruments database support to be enabled.
*** Support for instruments DB will be disabled!

From the config.log:
configure:19118: checking for SQLITE3
configure:19125: $PKG_CONFIG --exists --print-errors "sqlite3 >= $sqlite_version"
Package file '/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/sqlite3.pc' appears to be empty
Package 'sqlite3' has no Name: field
configure:19128: $? = 1
configure:19142: $PKG_CONFIG --exists --print-errors "sqlite3 >= $sqlite_version"
Package file '/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/sqlite3.pc' appears to be empty
Package 'sqlite3' has no Name: field
configure:19145: $? = 1
configure:19159: result: no
Package file '/usr/lib64/pkgconfig/sqlite3.pc' appears to be empty
Package 'sqlite3' has no Name: field

Indeed the sqlite3.pc file in /usr/lib64/pkgconfig appears to be empty...
Also in a fresh download from mirror.
As is the -devel package for sqlite3 is useless: no sw using pkgconfig will find the needed devel files.
Package rebuild needed?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.9.2-1

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install existing linuxsampler SRPM and linuxsampler-2.0.0 sources
2. Change BReq for sqlite3 to pkgconfig form
3. Run rpmbuild -bi and watch the first error message (failed dep)
4. Change BReq for sqlite3 to simple -devel form
5. Run rpmbuild -bi and watch the second error message from configure
Comment 1 Giovanni Mariani 2015-12-12 22:01:55 MSK
sqlite-3.9.2-3 now works.
Closing.
