Description Shalok Shalom 2015-06-18 18:42:44 MSD
Hi there :)

The Calligra office suit is really awesome and offers unique tools like Krita, which is a heavy underrated Photoshop replacement and raise over 30000 Euro in the lately Kickstarter campaign. https://krita.org/features/highlights/

This project is also a part by Google`s Summer of Code

Please: Especially as a KDE focused distribution is this suite really something fundamentally in my sense and the current version of Krita, in the contribution repos contain not even brushes.

Please pack that nice piece of software for the main repos and send it through the QA of the ROSA team. :D

Calligra has been present in contrib repo for years. Last time it was updated a week ago.

I know and how is that related to my request, please ?

The QA is such bad, that even missing brushes in krita are not known.

The request is titled as "pack calligra". Calligra is packed and applications from this suite can be successfully launched. So it looks like your question is actually not about "packing calligra".

If you get issues with particular applications from this suite, feel free to open separate bugs as it is already done for Krita. Requests like "calligra is packed, but in a bad way" are hard to handle and fix.

QA doesn't test contrib packages and many contrib packages are maintained by community. To be sure, we try to fix critical failures (e.g., when applications fail to start at all), but likely nobody noticed issue Krita brushes up to now.

And I am far from thought that calligra is the best choice for many users. Despite its nice look'n'feel and "native" KDE nature, its functionality (and sometimes stability) is still far from LibreOffice one, especially in handling complex .docx or even OpenDocument files. That's why we don't move calligra to the main repo and don't provide this suite in ROSA iso images.

Its a package request for the main repo.

That might be also a packaging issue, here in KaOS work Calligra awesome and even in ROSA do i run into docx files, which get proper shown in Calligra and not in Libre.

"If it contains some software that you would like to see in ROSA Enterprise Desktop, please make developers know about that."

There are no plans to move calligra to main and include it to the next version of RED.

Since the development slows down since Krita goes independend, sound this senseful.
