Description Shalok Shalom 2015-05-27 12:25:41 MSD
hi there :)

I am currently in ROSA Enterprise Desktop X2 and its very exciting ^^

Desktop Fresh is already very stable and i am inspired about this additional step to increase the stability.

What`s currently still a bit unclear to me, is that the Webpage lack direct download links:

Anton Safyanov help me in a very nice way, to get them quickly, its just that i think, that an official release help to increase the popularity of ROSA and also the support from the community will rise. :)

The text in the download section suggest me that only paying business customers are welcome to use RED, to be honest and it felt a bit daunting, to request the ISOs per mail, probable because thats very uncommon to me and i guess also for the very most other casual users.

Since they provide more stability, torrents are also on my wish list.

Checksums are currently also missing.
Comment 2 Denis Silakov 2015-05-27 16:44:03 MSD
As for checksums, we are going to suggest using of "checkisomd5" tool. The thing is that all our modern ISO images (including RED X2 ones) contain check sums embedded by means of implantisomd5 utility (http://linux.die.net/man/1/implantisomd5). So you can simply launch checkisomd5 to check the sum and it should say that everythin is ok:

$ checkisomd5 RED.X2.iso

The media check is complete, the result is: PASS.

It is OK to use this media.

This feature is not yet described anywhere, to be fixed soon:)

The disadvantage is that checkisomd5 is not available in some systems (e.g., in Win you will have to use cygwin), so likely it makes sense t ostill provide usual md5 sums in separate files.

Oh fine, one more genius ROSA tool :D

The most elegant and imho senseful solution are torrents, imho:

No potential risk to break the ISO and much lesser server usage on ROSA`s side. :)

By the way: Tribler makes torrents available, who work without a central tracker, like linuxtracker: http://bugs.rosalinux.ru/show_bug.cgi?id=4834

Thanks a lot for the checkisomd5 method :)

Ah yeah: Even distrowatch dont announce X2, i guess because of this decision of isolation.. :/
Comment 5 Denis Silakov 2015-05-29 17:41:53 MSD
This decision is made by marketing and sales staff, not by technical guys.
