Description Andrey Ponomarenko 2015-03-26 15:01:59 MSK
Description of problem:

There is a serious problem with proprietary driver (fglrx) on the Sony SVE1713S1RW notebook with AMD Radeon HD 7650M "Thames" graphics card.

I can't type simple text in the terminal. If I type several keys, then only some of typed symbols will be displayed and I can't see the whole command. The first impression was like some keys on the keyboard don't work, but if I type Up/Down keys then the typed text will be displayed.

Current version of the fglrx driver is 14.301.1001-4.

Boot mode: UEFI.

HW probe: http://hw.rosalinux.ru/index.php?probe=4d059c654c

The problem persists with kernel 3.18.9: http://hw.rosalinux.ru/index.php?probe=35b282d807

and with fglrx 14.501.1003-2: http://hw.rosalinux.ru/index.php?probe=34b852875a

All is Ok with the free graphics driver (with kernel 3.18.9): http://hw.rosalinux.ru/index.php?probe=e2cde8d1aa

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): R5 KDE x86_64

How reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Radeon non-free driver (fglrx) via XFdrake
2. Open terminal
3. Try to type any text

Fixed by enabling "Tear Free" option in the "Catalyst Control Center" application.
