avahi-daemon.conf

Description of problem:
Avahi does not respond to the configuration file settings for IPv6.
In /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf write default parameter "use-ipv6=no", but avahi-daemon is trying to obtain an ipv6 address. And thereby inhibits inclusion (switching) network.

Run

netstat -tunlp |grep p6 |wc -l

This say you all ipv6 process. If not 1 - you has many ipv6 using process enabled and disable Avahi has low priority.

What is minor? Its avahi slows recovery network.
Comment 5 Denis Silakov 2014-01-14 23:35:27 MSK
"use-ipv6=no" is not enough.

Set "publish-aaaa-on-ipv4" to "no" and avahi will not set ipv6 address.

With this parameter set to "yes" (this is the default), avahi tries to resolve IPv6 address using ipv4.

If this helps to speed up network, we can set this parameter to "no" by default.
