According to your screenshot, you are installing something in console using urpmi and at the same time tries to launch rpmdrake? In this case rpmdrake will wait for urpmi database to be unlocked. And installation of a large package set is a resource consuming task. In involves unpacking of compressed archives and can produce a high load to your hard drive (especially in virtual machine). So if you are observing system slowdown during installation of a large package set, then this is expected.
