Download firmware from http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=iwlwifi-5000-ucode-5.4.A.11.tar.gz

Unpack nay folder. Go to folder /iwlwifi-5000-ucode-5.4.A.11 and put command:
cp iwlwifi-*.ucode /lib/firmware
reboot

Вот это, похоже, новее:

И iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode там отличается от того, что у нас, что интересно.

The upstream maintainers claimed it is a firmware problem and refused to fix the issue, unfortunately.
